How so? Bogotá is well north of the equator.
It’s in the GSB, as are some other places a bit north of the equator.
Oh, I was unaware that Colombia was an honorary southerner.
For previous GSB, those countries ‘a bit North’ say that they see themselves as part of the Global South.
And there I was thinking that I was just a borderline southerner, and I live ~15 km south of the equator.
As can be seen on Wikipedia’s map, the Global North and Global South are not strictly divided by the equator. In fact, the “Land Down Under” is considered part of the Global North.

It gets even more interesting when you think in terms of the “Aldi Equator”…
Nevertheless, the GSB website says, " The Great Southern BioBlitz is an opportunity for all Southern Hemisphere countries to record organisms during Spring and showcase our beautiful biodiversity …"
I suppose that could include Colombia which is about 10% in the southern hemisphere.
Great Southern Bioblitz has included countries straddling the Equator from the first one.

Moved this to its own topic. I’ll also note that whatever is discussed here, the people who choose what areas are in the GSB are the GSB organizers, not anyone at iNat.
