I found this Lance wolf spider with a weird yellow coloration on her abdomen, why is it like that? They usually have a black heart mark and some Chevrons. Is this a birth defect?
I’m pretty sure that she’s a Lance wolf spider, but I could be wrong.
I’m inclined to agree based in part on the 3-way split of the medial band at the PLEs. This species normally has an obvious cardiac mark but there are rare exceptions. Getting ventral views would have provided additional clues. As it is we can’t tell juvenile or adult, male or female or sure. Note that my expertise is limited to Texas though.
