I reached out to Monarch Watch recently, because I’d heard they didn’t use iNaturalist observations in their monarch tracking dataset. They only use Journey North observations. So my question is, why wouldn’t Monarch Watch include iNaturalist observations, and what other organizations (if any) are using our monarch observations to support their research?

Maybe because people aren’t filling in the relevant observation fields? Only 112 observations between the two, and since I tag with both, probably some overlap.

Those are tagged butterflies, but isn’t there value in untagged observations?
No idea. I don’t really pay much attention to Monarchs.
