Who Eats Whom: two kinds of bees

I saw a dead opossum on the way to getting my car done (where I made several more observations). Near the opossum is a redbud tree which had what appeared to be two kinds of bees pollinating it. If I make one ob for the redbud and two for the bees, can I add two «URL for “partner” observation» fields to the redbud, or put both bee URLs in one field?

I never heard about that observation field in particular but it should usually have an explenation on how to use it. If it allows for 2 URL, why not. Assuming that you want something similar to ‘similar observation set’, I would probably just paste the URLs into the notes or a comment to ‘link’ them.
I hope I got your question correctly.

Generally, I would not put 2 URLs in a fields that is meant for only 1 URL. only if you have the chance to add them into 2 seperate fields.

Who Eats Whom is a project rather than an observation field

I suspect OP would e better off contacting the managers of that project directly, or at least pinging them in the post.

Oh. It sounded like a catchy title they made up ^^ My apologies :) In that case, I have the same advice though: Check what’s specified in that project (instead of OF).

edit: I just checked what’s specified and … yeah, not much really…

Thanks for pointing it out, seems interesting.
(this mislead me I think, sorry: can I add two «URL for “partner” observation» fields)

There is an observation field that allows for a second Associated observation URL: it’s titled Associated observation (2nd). I just used it with a tangle of plants where I had identified certain plants in the cluster, but was still at a loss for one (which is still sitting at Dicots, sigh, but the others don’t have confirming IDs yet, either).

ETA: @phma, this sounds like what you were looking for. I found it by typing “associated” in the Observtion Fields box, and seeing what came up in autofill.

@bradleyallf I am actually curious about this as well. To this point, I have been uploading any extra observations in a comma seperated format, but I think you should be able to chime in here.

There are at least two kinds of flies on the opossum, so I tagged @bradleyallf there.

Hi folks, sorry just seeing this. Yes we request that if you have one observation with multiple “partner” observations (e.g. two different fly species feeding on a dead opossum) then you can put both in that “URL for partner observation” observation field, separated by a semicolon. So, on your possum observation, the “URL for partner observation” field would be: “https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/344859663; [link2]”.

Now, I’m not positive our code works yet for displaying this correctly on the website (www.whoeatswhom.org). So if someone could find a case like this where all partners are at research-grade that would help me check. But in any case, our long term plan is for that to be the format for multi-partner interactions.
