Why don't these observations show up in this project? - "Official" Topic

Yes, you can always see your own true locations.

With the project trusted, your observations shouldn’t be excluded based on obscuration rectangles. Only the size of the accuracy circle. But FWIW you can view the obscuration rectangle if you log out or open the observation in an incognito/private browsing window.

Sorry. Others are hoping to have that capability as well. There’s an open feature request here: https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/view-true-locations-on-maps-for-observations-with-trusted-hidden-coordinates/2568

They will be able to see the true coordinates on the observation detail page like you can.

Who Can See the Coordinates

  • The person who made the observation
  • Individuals who the observer has trusted with their hidden coordinates
  • Curators of the following projects:

Why You Can See the Coordinates

  • You curate a project that contains this observation: You can see obscured coordinates when you curate a project that contains an observation and the observer has chosen to share coordinates with curators of that project.

Thanks bouteloua, I think I understand all of your replies. Yes, it looks like it is the feature request you mention that I am really looking for, so I put in my ask there too. Thank-you.

Hi all,

I have just started a new project where my only filters are location and ‘research grade’/‘needs ID’. I have over 50 observations that meet both of these requirements and yet only 1 shows in the project. Any suggestions? When I change the location to worldwide they all show up so this must be the issue. However I have only filtered by country and they are all listed as recorded in that same country. Many thanks!

welcome to the forum

Can you link the project, and also link a few observations you expect to be in it but which are not

Platform: iOS

App version number, if a mobile app issue: iNaturalist version 3.3.7, build 722, iOS 18.5

Browser, if a website issue:

URLs (aka web addresses) of any relevant observations or pages:

https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/290372161 (observation made in the project field)

https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/solar-pollinator-meadow-at-weld-hill-biodiversity-survey. (project where it is not showing up despite location of the image showing as being in the correct place)

Description of problem:

Some (but not all) of my observations taken within my project field are not showing up in my project. This morning I took pictures of a bumblebee in the meadow my project takes place in–the observation shows up in “my observations” but will not populate into my project. I have set the project to accept any “grade” of observation. Help!

Step 1:

Step 2:

Step 3:

The accuracy circle on your observation is too large and extends outside your place, please see https://help.inaturalist.org/en/support/solutions/articles/151000169942 for more details.

Hi, I added a few observations over the past few days and some were recorded as being in my project - but others were not - AND I cannot add them manually, no matter how I try with manipulating the marker on the map or on trying to add to a project (as my project does not show in the list) - Help please!

please provide a link to your project, and some of the observations that aren’t in it (but that you think should be)

Hi folks,

This should be in Heleomyzid projects and its not… it seems to meet all requirements mentioned on this post and in the project itself. What are we missing?

https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/215458649

https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/european-heleomyzid-flies-diptera-heleomyzidae?tab=about
https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/heleomyzids-uk

that observation is indeed in both of those projects; it’s just that the label/name for each project doesn’t appear on the record because the observer hasn’t joined either project

collection projects only appear at this side panel if the observer has joined them (traditional projects will always appear there)

Strange, I checked in the projects this morning and couldn’t see it with this filter
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?d1=2024-01-01&d2=2024-12-31&place_id=30361&project_id=european-heleomyzid-flies-diptera-heleomyzidae&taxon_id=319830&verifiable=any

But maybe I made a mistake in the date range then…
Thanks!

Hello! I have created this project for documentation purposes: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/herpetofauna-de-lambayeque . There seemed to be few snake species within the project, far lesser than they should be, and while checking around https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/36363007, https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/342801505 are a couple examples of observations that SHOULD be included but are not. Can’t find out why that happens. Please, help!

Both of those observations are in your project. If you look at the Species tab in your project, there’s one observation for each of those species — the two observations you linked. Can you explain why you didn’t think they were in your project? Thanks!

Oops! Sorry. I was looking at these observations and saw this box:

unmarked. Is there a reason for that?

whoops I just saw the post above:

I’m very sorry! I was reading from the beginning and didn’t see this.. I guess this answers my question,
