I have noticed recently, while trying to get observations out of “unknown” category, that in some cases, when I see reasons for future disagreements ( because 2 or more SP on the same photo, the worst case being a vegetal with an animal…), I cannot modify Evidence related to a single subject, why is it in some cases I can, not in others…
The Data Quality Assessment check for multiple subjects is only available when there are two or more photos in a single observation. In a single photo, there often are more than one organism visible - for example, an insect sitting on a leaf.
That DQA item is only supposed to be applied to observations with multiple photos which each contain different organisms, and for this reason is not available on observations with only one photo. In general there is no rule against a photo containing only one organism (it is often quite hard to, say, photograph a bird without any plant appearing in frame). If the observer left an ID you should ID whichever organism is closest to that ID. If their ID is non-existent or ambiguous you can either guess (and leave a note explaining which organism you are IDing) or ask.
Thanks, it is clear now, only with people posting just one photo e.g. with a plant and an in insect or spider, we will still have disagreements as when asked which sp to ID they usually dont reply, only after people say give an id to the plant, we see the owner, posting with the correct name of the insect, which makes a fool of the people trying to help…
But satisfied with the answers, I will pay more attention now!
Not at all - if they didn’t say - we can either choose what we see first, or ask. CV can prompt me to see something I missed - that plant is a dragonfly … so it is !
If the fault is anywhere it lies with the observer.
