Pygochelidon cyanoleuca they never stop flying and i had a chance to take photos a few days ago because no fly.
It’s a lovely white and blue swallow, I have never seen one before. Is it the female, do you know? It looks more brown than blue which is why I think it might be, since I think sometimes males are showier in birds.
I think it is female because: after observing them many, as well as reading about them and their characteristics, i know that the males are usually a bluish-black color, and their feathers are somewhat iridescent.
In this case, the feathers of this animal don’t really seem to shine in the light; they have a little blue, but it’s almost entirely brown. Its body already looks almost adult.
Seeing it from a distance with my human eyesight, this bird would be the size of an adult. So, having the height of an adult, being almost completely brown, and also flying freely with the other birds makes me think it could be a female.
Heres another not the same.
My favorite this week is this Eurasian Red Squirrel (not quite red this time, here’s another one: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/336664909)
I simply love this photo, but it could have been better…

I kinda upgraded my squirrel photography skills from last year! Here’s an older, quite trash observation: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/272459242, or a (little) better one here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/312646629
But SINCE WHEN do I love squirrels this much? ![]()
juvenile. adult male and female blue and white swallows are both a brilliant blue above, but the juveniles are brown
Great photo! Well, they certainly are a bit mischevious at times! I’ve seen one take a golf ball once (and attempted to chew on it), and of course the times they’ve broken into pumpkins (although I might encourage it, I leave mine to rot in the backyard after halloween since springtails love it). Oh, and of course the countless times they’ve scared away birds, knocked over the birdfeeder spilling all of its seed, etc. But hey, we love 'em anyways!
How do you manage to get such interesting photos every time? Amazing ideas and great execution!
Not the greatest photo of all time, but I was pretty impressed with my camera to get all these guys flying with a mountain background. :)
My favourite macros of the week (same guy/girl)
Bored out of my mind. LOL
Wow!
Looks amazing!
I’ve fallen down a bit of a coyote rabbit hole recently, including this very sad mangey gal from Saturday. And I’m also going a bit bored out of my mind with winter (lack of) observation opportunities… lol.
Saw that sign, Mr. Cormorant? No diving or swimming here! You heard me!
*grumpy cormorant protests*
Really nice shot, looking forward to see the next poll(s), with so many pictures!
My camera was giving me trouble over the weekend but I did manage this shot that, while it could be a lot better, still pleases me.

I got this photo of a Barrow’s Goldeneye a bit over a week ago!
