There was an old thread for this that’s been closed for a while. Cheer us up again with your funny pics or stories.

This isn’t really side splitting, but I think the sign alerting the deer to the Human Xing is good for a chuckle:

I could definitely use a laugh or two right now after having to deal with some rather headache-inducing car trouble so I will be eagerly checking this thread! As for my own observations I have picked out a few favorites, all of which have descriptions.

It’s worth visiting the project Geralds of the World. Mildly humorous observations. Just don’t click on Gerald itself unless you have a lot of patience.

I don’t have any side splitters but have had some fun ones:

This Opossum was in a trash can. When I removed him, he was trying to lay there doing the whole “play dead” thing (I think I heard somewhere, that they actually pass out?), but he wasn’t committed to the part and kept opening his eye, I assume to see if I was still there.

This one was laying on his side when I found him on a hot day. He took the drink and moved on.

If it’s not obvious I love Opossums.
I was taking a picture of this Titmouse a couple of weeks ago when he suddenly dropped to the ground and came back up. The way he’s posing, it kinda felt like a hunter posing with a trophy.

I have three funny iNat experiences:

On May I was trying to make a picture of a rare cicada in a field, it was quite windy and the sun was literally burning my neck. The cicada was singing on a 30 cm long and very thin stem. I carefully tried to snap a picture to not scare the cicada. The cicada, thank God, wasn’t frightened. But the stalk wobbled wildly back and forth. I photographed on my knees for 15 minutes and that was enough for me. Some pictures are partially sharp, some are completely blurred (even with flash …). In the end I was satisfied with about 5 good pictures out of 50 taken. I will never forget that ;)

On August, I recorded two male cicadas. Both were on the same branch and had something like a dialogue (a pretty loud one, approximately 90 Dezibel). They got closer and closer, got noisier and started something like we humans would call a fight. It really looked and sounded like a catfight…

I think some people will agree to the following kind of experience, because I’ve also seen it happening to many people.
Sometimes, when you push the “agree” button in an observation, and then you click on it again, because you aren’t sure if you indeed agreed, then, suddenly you have a withdrawn ID and below the same active ID. It might be funny as well as annoying sometimes. Because (for me) this looks kind of ugly to have so many withdrawn ID’s…
I alway think like “OMG, it happened again!!!” and start laughing…
