A plea to 1:1 your photos!

My own photos (except on the rare occasion I use a phone) are 4:3 so not that far off square.
I think this works well, I’d never crop, I don’t have enough time to upload as it is. That is unless I’ve got something I don’t want in the photo, like a Homo sapiens in the background, or couldn’t get close enough, as in the bird example above, then i do go 1:1 I think. (Edit: No, I don’t, though I will now)

Correct. Though only a minority of iNat users capture photos using a macro lens. The rest have to resort to tight cropping.

Practical reality here, than theory!
