An Idea To Promote Explosive Growth for INaturalist and its Data

That’s true even in the United Stares. I have a friend who’s an expert in native bees and he uploads his bee photos to the website Discover Life.

@arboretum_amy
and @Vireya are 100% right.
iNat needs to reach out to motivated and educated individuals who understand the scientific aspect of the mission of iNat.
We definitely don’t need a backlog of juvenile projects producing poorly focused and composed images.
And we definitely don’t need politicized images as I’ve seen the wave of Instagram-grade selfies, architecture, craftsmanship of people waiting to be RG as homo sapiens or humans.

@tiwane: Yes, this was more or less my thinking. And of course my look at the item was statistical, that means that the individual can act completely contrary to it. Statistics prove nothing for special situations. But taking into consideration all the right arguments written in this forum, poverty and lack of infrastructure and the existance of various identification sites in the Global South cannot explain sufficiently the existing distribution of iNaturalists on the Globe.

Most fungi IDers are at least familiar with slime molds due to overlapping environments, so if they end up in Fungi they fixed pretty quickly.

Certainly better than letting good pictures potentially languish in the unknown pile.
