Announcing the Universal Metadata Tool Beta (by @megachile)

That’s not a feature I can control unfortunately; it’s on the iNat side

You’re in bulk mode but trying to use the single action buttons; once you’ve made the selection you have to use the Bulk Action menu in the upper left corner to proceed.

Some slight questions/remarks.

  1. I can’t find the new actions (marked as reviewed/unreviewed, etc.). This is all I get:

I certainly have missed something, but can’t figure out what!

  1. Is there a way to sort this list alphabetically? (it’s already sorted for buttons display).

Sorting the list of actions is on my list to handle this summer (now that the term is done I should be able to start working on this again soon).

I redownloaded the extension and installed it fresh and I get the new actions. Maybe you’re installing from an older version?

Idk if you’ve realized this since, sorry for not checking it earlier, but this is absolutely already possible, has been the whole time? The field that looks up the taxon doesn’t care if you input a latin name, common name, or iNat taxon code. Fortunately that is all handled on the iNat end so I never had to do anything to make that work.

It’s summer vacation so I’m back open for business in bug fixing and feature requests. Let me know if there’s anything you’ve come across that isn’t yet listed here:

I’d prefer you add the issue there yourself but feel free to make a post here instead if you don’t want to make a Github account

I changed the color of the bulk selection frames for myself since the green might fit very nicely with iNat theme but sometimes is really hard to see (especially when you are dealing with green stuff like grass or leafs).
Maybe it’s something worth considering.

Another thing i think I might have mentioned above already, would be to trigger the bulk action using the short-cuts or buttons assigned to the different actions. In combination with the “activate buttons with “enter”” request already on github, that would make the process more efficient (even saving two clicks makes a difference when going through hundreds of pages).

Thanks for your work

this is done. You can also use escape/enter in all the modals now.

Implemented

Sorry, I didn’t come back here for a while. I tried redownloading today, and still not get the new actions. Am I downloading the right version?

Try this one: https://download-directory.github.io/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2FMegachile%2FPhenology%2Ftree%2Fmain%2FinathelperJS

Much better indeed! - Thanks.
So, I do see now the new actions.
But, in bulk mode, the “Select and apply action” action dropdown list is empty. It was working previously as seen in my last screenshot.

A bug report:
Creating a new button (Add Taxon ID) defaults to “Add observation field”.
Can be resolved be selecting anything else from the dropdown and selecting Add Taxon ID again. I also run into the bug shown above my comment!

I am having the same problem as chris971.

I updated to the newest version, and I love being able to automate removing observations from a project, but I now cannot use bulk action mode at all, because no actions ever appear on the drop-down list. :(

I also have a problem with the “enable bulk action mode” button sitting right on top of (I mean, overlapping, covering, blocking) the bulk action buttons, so I cannot select or unselect safe mode, and “select all” is mostly covered, so I an only see “all”.

Wow lol I cannot believe I broke it that badly, not sure how that happened because I feel like I was testing that component frequently when I shipped this but I guess not enough! Should work now!

The other two reported issues should now be fixed too, thanks for flagging those and sorry about the inconvenience! Lmk ASAP when you find stuff like this, I hate to think the latest version is not functional for weeks at a time and I’m just not aware of it :s

Thanks but… Is it me or Bulk mode is completely disabled now?

Humm… It’s back.

The bulk action controls now display properly, but I still am not getting any options on the drop-down under “select an action”. Do I need to download and reinstall the extension, or should it update automatically?

No auto-updates, you need to download and unzip and reload it.

Yay, it’s working now, thanks!
