which baffles me, because they all seem to get up at midnight to watch birds at sunrise at 3 am
Personally, I do birdwatching from my front porch while I drink my morning cup of coffee. Birding is when I grab my binos and camera and head off in the woods to try to add some new lifers to my list.
Curious if that makes me the old lady outlier. I’ve always called it birding and I was just about 60 when I started birding. In fact, I’ve never really run across the term ‘birdwatching’ being used within our state which ranks #19 out of 50 US States for number of eBird checklists. And lots of our birders are over 60. lol… for kicks I googled ‘average age of birders in Minnesota’ and found this quote: “The average age of birders in Minnesota is still retired,”
Awesome! That right there explains it very well.
