Habitat restoration is an important goal in itself! People have been working on it for that reason since long before global warming became such an issue. Stopping or reducing global warming is also an important goal. Often they go together. In some cases (e.g. locating solar panels) they’re opposed and I think the conservation of good natural habitats should be given priority – put those panels on the millions of acres of overgrazed land, not in good habitat – but given the millions of acres that need to be restored, usually we can find ways to both do restoration and reduce warming.
