If someone was researching this particular species, it would be important to know where a seed is found. Mother Nature will take care of whether it will survive or not. Let’s say 5 years down the road this same researcher is looking for data and the seed/now tree is growing beautifully, the origin of that tree would be vital to the data.

I hadn’t thought about the issue with GBIF or other databases that import iNat data. That use case is a good justification for a field to mark an observation with life stage info, or as being indirect evidence. That would then allow external data sync partners to choose to filter out certain records during import or within their own platforms.
