If they drove across northern or central Nevada to get to California, there’s not much to see here yet either. We’ve had such a cold, wet winter that the flowers are running weeks behind so I’m afraid they would mostly see gray hills with the first signs of green grass at lower elevations and snow on the peaks.
Sorry you have so many unhappy visitors, critical thinking seems to be a dying skill. Recently on a local forum, someone asked if there was a superbloom at a popular local wildflower spot, which is in an alpine area near Lake Tahoe. People were responding “Yes, the wildflowers are blooming like crazy, bring a snow shovel for best the viewing.”
Some of the most amazing wildflowers bloom right near the edge of the snowfields.
