Fusion power: a short-term blessing or long-term curse for the environment?

The answer to that question would very much depend on how one defines a civilization. Victorian England definitely left a legacy of toxic waste but did Victorian England constitute a civilization? Is it extinct? I would say so but I know others would disagree.

It also depends on how you define waste. Are mummified or frozen bodies waste? Then yes. Many cultures have left bodies that may contain pathogens that could affect us today.
