How do I search for observations annotated as alive?

I couldn’t find how to do this in any existing search URL posts

I don’t think searching by annotations is possible. Not just alive, but life stage and sex too as far as I know.

Yes you can, see https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/how-to-use-inaturalists-search-urls-wiki/63

To search for observations annotated as alive, use term_id=17&term_value_id=18, e.g. https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?term_id=17&term_value_id=18

For clarity, term_id=17 finds observations with the alive/dead annotation filled out with any value, and term_value_id=18 specifies that the value must be alive.

Identify had a user interface for searching on annotations under “more filters”. I don’t think it is currently available in Explore but editing the URLs as above should work there.

Added the Alive or Dead values to the wiki: https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/how-to-use-inaturalists-search-urls-wiki/63
