How do people keep track of undescribed species?

I have always seen subsp. in botany, except in iNat, and it’s a pain : I can’t just copy and paste the names from iNaturalist, I always have to edit the copied names for subspecies, for example for a search in a database like POWO.

Looking into this here, I see there’s an interesting discrepancy. The older volumes use ssp., and so do our databases. But the newest version of Jepson uses “subsp.”: https://ucjeps.berkeley.edu/eflora/eflora_display.php?tid=89072

POWO, IPNI, AlgaeBase, Index Fungorum, MycoBank, LPSN… all use subsp.
