I have similar baskets, but our South African ones are made of reeds and grass - the ultimate effect very similar. Pine needles must be fiddly to work with.

My Christmas tree has only nature-themed ornaments, mostly hand-made by various artisans, collected over many years. Lots of birds, with a few other animals. Here’s a small sampling:
