I find it really motivating to look through my state’s most unusual observations, marveling at the interesting discoveries, catching observations that need more attention under the data quality assessment, asking clarification questions where appropriate, and learning where species are expected to occur and usually something about their ecology vs where they’ve been observed. There are lots of potential discoveries, and lots of potential errors. One thing I’ve noticed in the first week of using this tool is how much the Computer Vision has improved in the last few years. I’ve encountered many observations with IDs with the CV tag for species that are known from other continents, but if you click on CV suggestions now, those species no longer appear as suggestions. The whole system is improving by design, and this geomodel tool should make it easier to address some past CV missteps.
