Oh - was the squirrel injured ? Looks nasty for the squirrel, and probably terrified by all the noise and hordes of people everywhere.

Terrified, I doubt not! I don’t think it was actually struck though. I’m guessing nobody caught it to find out!

The caption indicates that squirrel attempted the slopes at the 2018 Games, so looking for a historical Olympic record. edit because now I have done research: Sadly there are only two Observations of that Order from there in 2018 and neither fit the bill. [Screenshot 2026-02-09 12.18.18 PM]

Since iNaturalist is for your personal observations of nature, hopefully a forum user was at the Winter Olympics in 2018, so they can submit the screenshot as an observation. It could make the list of most “faved” observations , which already includes a squirrel observation at number 8 .
