Recently passed 8k species observed! Definitely would not be anything close to that without the ID contributions of many, many awesome people.

Just reached 2000 observations in my home project. The vast majority are mine. I noted 1000 observations in this project when I started this thread two years ago. Still plenty of backlog and always recording new things.

I went to Italy for three weeks, my first time being back there since adolescence. This meant every observation was a new Italian one for iNaturalist! Before I went there I had observed 516 species. We didn’t have great weather and it is a cold and plenty of wet April in Europe as far as I can tell.

I got to my new milestone of 600 species, and now that I am home I am at 623. And all with just a mediocre smartphone camera! All in all I made 186 observations of 150 species.

I especially enjoined that one sunny, warm day where I sat on the edge of the unmowed, undisturbed high grass in the olive yard, looking for any new plant and animal to show itself. It was such a serene experience, I kept doing it for hours.

Reached 10,000 identifications of Chironomidae yesterday. Also these Chironomid genera have enough identifications and observations that they can be included in the CV. Polypedilum, Procladius, Glyptotendipes, Tanypus, Paratendipes, Goeldichironomus, Microtendipes, Zavrelimyia, Chasmatonotus, Stictochironomus, Thienemannimyia, Demeijerea, Alotanypus.

Nice numbers, will not stay like that for long as I expect a few of my recent uploads to be ID rapidly tho !

Went to Croatia for 4 days and the 255 observations I made pushed me to over 15,000 total observations! 10,400 of them are plants (including 2500 orchids) and 3,700 are fungi (mostly lichen).

575 species from 1,774 nocturnal moth sheet observations at my house is a nice achievement. Almost at 3,500 species total now, including casual observations.

Not as impressive as some others here, but got 5k IDs for others now after high level-ID’ing a couple of hundred unknowns today.
