Woo-hoo! I know exactly how much work that takes and I know how knowledgeable your IDs are. Great job!

Much better at ID’ing than observing…

Still keeping to my goal of at least one obs a day

I’m trying to do that too! It’s hard to find things in January though, unless I want to photograph spruce trees every day.

Do any of these spruce trees host lichens or mosses?

Yes, lot’s! Some neat ones too, although I have very little expertise in identifying them.

I recommend the book macrolichens of the pacific northwest 2nd edition(I think I remember you being in SE alaska) to get you started on that journey
An usnea specific book that is good is Usnea in the pacific northwest by daphne fisher stone

I’m better at IDing than at observing… I’m almost reaching 1000 obs and 450 species and hopefully I’ll reach 29k IDs by the end of January

I’m actually in south central Alaska, but thanks for the recommendation. I’ll definitely check it out.

My first act as a new curator: the adding of a species in response to finding an observation of it. I had a few bloopers in the process of adding both the accepted and unaccepted names; but I think I have straightened them out.

I present to you, Asketanthera longiflora, A.K.A. Asketanthera ekmaniana.

well done

when adding new taxa, don’t forget to also add a Taxon Framework Relationship (https://www.inaturalist.org/taxon_framework_relationships/789619; I’ve done it for you in this case)

I have just finished annotating all my observations of animals and now have annotated 2500 observations. Now I need to move on to my plants.
