Maybe @tiwane can offer some guidance on this. I too find it a bit confusing. Caps lock in a heated context can definitely be rude, like when disagreeing on a species ID or an inaturalist policy, but i too find that iNaturalist admin is the only place where it’s discouraged or banned outright regardless of context. While i don’t have a strong desire to fight for more caps lock on iNat or this forum, I also think it has the potential to confuse new users if this etiquette point is not something that is consistently true across the internet. I’d say we should just look at it in context and only comment on it if the post is uncivil or angry in tone. But… that’s just me. And I don’t tend to use caps lock anyway.
I know this is from two weeks ago, but I couldn’t use my iNat log in to get into the new forum. I just wanted to pop in and say that I’d love to see these improvements that @bouteloua suggested for the project calendar function of iNaturalist (adding maps, defaulting for shorter events).
I don’t think that page would be as good for meet-ups, so I think maybe a Meet Up category would be good. Topics organized by country? State/province? I see that it could be not as useful if it’s a large area covered.

I think that’s fine, I’m sorry it hasn’t been policed evenly, which is my fault. I suppose my thoughts on it is that there are other other readily available ways to emphasize text here, so let’s use those rather than all caps. But some all caps here or there which are not used in anger is fine.

No worries, it didn’t really bother me (and i wasn’t even the recipient) it just seemed kind of …different. But all communities have different things like that, so i think it’s fine as long as we are aware of it. RIGHT?

It’s made from the “uncategorized” category that Discourse made originally and that I can’t delete, which is why the description is a bit off. Will look into how to change it.
