I disagree strongly with removing the sex annotation entirely for plants. It’s useful for relatively few plants, but for them it is useful and I’d like to be able to search on this feature.

I agree, this would not be the best solution That is why I think it would be best to have the threeway distinction of mono-, di or synoicous, and male female only applicable to dioicous.
