I went on an inat walkabout trying to find a project @susanne-kasimir was seeking and instead came across a project for a species within a genus of which I had never heard: Macroglossum, the Hummingbird hawkmoths, which are as cool as they sound. I am devastated they are not here but also pleased to see how widespread they are.
Something I like to do when I come across new-to-mes is follow the taxonomic tree to find the closest thing I thing I have observed. In this case, taxonomically, the closest I have observed is subfamily.
