So, it looks like there are good reasons for not having a source in some cases but I don’t see any good reasons for not noting a reason for the taxonomic change when making a taxonomic change. Some people get very frustrated by taxonomic changes even when there is a valid reason, but probably almost everyone is frustrated when there is no reason given. I’m astonished that this still isn’t mandatory five years after the original request.
