It’s not really the topic of this thread, but here are some reasons why I have done that:
- Out of caution, I made a higher-level ID in the app (where the photos are tiny) and forgot to go back and update it on my computer (where I have many ID resources available), or just haven’t gotten to it yet.
- That’s what I thought it was, but I was doubting myself too much to make the ID.
- That’s what I hoped it was, but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t just seeing what I wanted to see.
- I selected a higher-level ID by mistake.
- Now that I know what species to look at, with a second look, I can make the ID myself.
- (If some time has passed.) I know more about this species now.
- I was going through pages and pages of uncategorized observations, and I picked something general just to get it moving along.
