People who can ID sponges as anything other than “Sponges” are as rare as hen’s teeth. I work in southeast Asia as a marine biology academic and only know one member of the Poriferati in real life. He’s not on iNat. He says he can’t do better than an amateur with only a photograph.

I don’t know if I said this before but I actually have two obs of unidentified sharks from 2023 in Tonga.

Mine’s either the six Tipula pagana I saw (species only has ~340 observations) or a coniopterygid larva I spotted today (only about 70 observations of the larvae!).

I had the first record of a jumping spider species in Mississippi! It’s a prairie species and was found on a small remnant of the Blackbelt Prairie! https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/225871007
