The value of an avatar

I love yours because when you ID or annotate one of mine I feel like you’re giving me a friendly smile while doing it.

I chose my avatar both because it’s a picture I like, and it represents my taxon of choice - Indo-Pacific reef fishes. Admittedly, it is a picture of a fish in an aquarium (getting nice, side-on pics of wild fish can be tough without having to catch them!), not wild, but I don’t think it’s really a big deal. for those wondering, its a Foxface Rabbitfish (Siganus vulpinus).

I wanted to say ME! But then I realised you are serious about ‘gigantic’. OK, you win.

I hope people don’t expect me to identify trees from their wood. I’m just a camera-shy person who liked that this tree stump had a picture of a tree inside.

“Expect” is so strong. Perhaps we are hopeful or encouraging. Consider allowing your avatar to inspire you. iNat is greatly in need of wood (and bark) experts.
