Cool! I did not know about the Nectar Plant! Obs field.
We are up to 2,053 species on our 22 hectare/55 acre property in the unglaciated Appalachian US.
I considered starting a Project, but didn’t see any significant advantages. I created a Location and that makes it very easy to run statistics and compare year over year. I’m just now getting ready to create my annual dragonfly summary report.
I’m not a purist on location. I do stray onto neighboring properties, so the Location extends beyond our property. I also created a smaller location just for the wetland area.
I started putting UV lights out a few years ago, and that led to an increase in insect observations of all kinds. I find that a lot of the smaller nighttime insects are not being reported frequently by other observers.
I have 1360 species on 1/4 acre. Most of those are moths. I never considered doing a project. Interesting idea!
