I think an expert should have the following attributes:
- Curiosity and time to spend sufficient amount time, whether online searching or field searching, to understand a particular field of organisms.
- Ask questions and gives advice to learn more.
- Willing to admit they can be wrong.
I personally believe attribute three is a significant mark of an expert and distinguishes them from experienced hotshots.
