If we step back and take a broader perspective, very few places (including Facebook groups, Reddit groups, etc) online are a true democracy. For logistical reasons (allowing the group to achieve its purpose), there are usually moderators with god-like powers, whose decisions are absolute, and who are difficult or impossible to question.
