Why did this butterfly die so fast?

Caterpillars don’t liquify. That’s a common misconception. The body parts are slowly growing inside their bodies, and then fully develop in the pupal stage.

They also don’t talk to each other about what humans do to them…

In the same vein, the chicken didn’t really cross the road… it was simply going from A to B and the road happened to intersect that path…

No, I am speaking English though it happens to be the Sri Lankan dialect, and there is no dialect-translation as all are mostly the same. So, I think there has been damage.

Good to establish. I do not wish to insult you. If the butterfly was damaged it was likely near death when you came upon it.
