Cactus enthusiast since age 7, I’ve spent decades exploring, documenting, and studying the Cactaceae family—especially in the American Southwest. I run The Cactus Collective on YouTube, where I share field explorations, rare species profiles, and cultivation tips. My focus includes habitat-specific observations, range extensions, and hybrid zones, with a particular interest in cacti that inhabit colder climates. I spent a good portion of my childhood and early adult years in Canada, and cold hardy cacti hold an abiding fascination for me.
I’m actively involved in rediscovery projects, including tracking down historical herbarium records and revisiting type localities. To date, I’ve provided identification input on more than 140,000 cactus observations, often focusing on subtle morphological distinctions in the field.
When not in the field or the greenhouse, I work in native landscaping and real estate, often integrating conservation goals with design. iNaturalist helps me stay grounded in the data and connect with others who care about native ecosystems.
If you ever have questions or thoughts, feel free to reach out. I am always up for a good cactus discussion.
