I am the Director of the Alabama Museum of Natural History at the University of Alabama, and prior to that was Curator of Fishes, Amphibians and Reptiles, and a Senior Research Associate in the Dept. of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Cornell University. I received my BS in zoology from the University of Central Florida, and my PhD in Zoology from Duke University. I have been a professional ichthyologist for over 20 years, and have conducted field research on freshwater fishes throughout South America and Africa. Since moving to Alabama in 2015, I has been developing the museum’s biodiversity and citizen science initiatives including the Biodiversity of Alabama Project (https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/biodiversity-of-alabama). Furthermore, since my wife and her family are Guatemalan, I now am very interested in also supporting and developing iNaturalist projects in Guatemala, and serve as admin for the Biodiversidad de Guatemala Project (https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/biodiversidad-de-guatemala).
