With my partner Paul Whitington, I live in a patch of native forest in south-eastern Australia. We are retired biologists and, since moving here 10 years ago, have applied our science backgrounds to learning more about the plants and animals of the forest. Although not trained taxonomists, we have recently published a paper describing a new spider species … so we are learning the ropes. However, we are most definitely generalists, with a keen interest in all invertebrate species … particularly insects. In addition to adding our sightings to iNaturalist, we have our own website - Life in a Southern Forest - where we share images and stories of the local biodiversity and ecology.
