In days gone by I was a renewable energy Engineer - Australian was a world leader in renewable energy technologies but we chose to hand all that over the Chinese and Germans. My hobbies took over from my original Profession, so I’ve been an Outdoor Aquatics Instructor for a decade or so. I’m still an Engineer ‘popping the bonnet and looking inside’, understanding the world I live and work (sail, kayak, snorkel, swim) in. iNaturalist is a key forum for looking in, and recording, that world. Most recently I have been involved with OzFish Adelaide and it’s marine, estuarine and riverine ecological restoration work. iNaturalist is an important repository for ecological data for those programs.
