I am a microscopist and fungal biologist, with four decades of experience in amateur and academic mycology, and advanced training in light and electron microscopy. I recently was awarded an MSc in Microscopy and Imaging from National University of Ireland, Galway and have been a microscope technician and instructor for over 10 years. I’m an enthusiast about natural history and science in general, and also enjoy studying microbes, insects, and plants in addition to fungi. I am a lifetime member and former president of the San Francisco Microscopical Society and am excited about sharing my knowledge of microscopes and the natural world with students of all backgrounds. My other interests include photography, gastronomy, film geekery, and international vagabonding.
