I’m a backyard observer in Tacoma, WA. I’m from Michigan (in a lake effect snow area) so seeing how everything grows here still amazes me after 4 years. As a kid, my dad taught me to identify trees by bark, leaf shape, etc. so I’m not completely new to identification, but I’m a beginner when it comes to most of it.

I’ll occasionally look for things when I’m outside my own yard, but there’s enough here to keep me busy! My favorite “hey, where’d you come from?” plant in my yard is Claytonia perfoliata.
