I am a chemist, currently working on restoration of Superfund and formerly used defense sites. I earned a Master’s degree at Rice University where I studied solid state materials with exotic electromagnetic properties. While there, I discovered one of only four known itinerant magnetic compounds in existence (compounds that display magnetic order due to correlated behavior of conduction electrons). I don’t have any particular expertise when it comes to living things (though I learn a little more through iNat everyday), but I love getting up close to plants and animals in the wild.
