yeah part of the discussion if they propose doing that will be, how many of these species actually need to be obscured. If they do end up doing that i’ll in the least be changing or deleting the dates from anything auto obscured, if not deleting them outright. It’s gonna suck to see everyone else’s data ruined, but i won’t have it happen to mine.
But we don’t even know for sure if they are going to do it, so it’s not something we shoudl get too riled up about, despite my tendency to do so.
makes sense about the ginseng if someone is specifically using that data.
It is about to, and will be implemented when we have become a community. We have separated our Red List threatened species from our Sensitive Species. see here: http://biodiversityadvisor.sanbi.org/online-biodiversity-data/sensitive-species/
Basically Sensitive Species must be threatened by trade or collecting (or easily confused with such a species by regulatory authorities).
@JeremyHussell mentioned in his post that for many places the IUCN list is the only available status list. This is also the case for us here in Luxembourg. We at the Natural history museum are currently trying to build up a decent iNaturalist user-base (ex. City Nature Challenge). We have a series of status list available or under revision for the country. Thus it would make sense to implement these for our iNaturalist place.
People often talk about the “curators” for a place, how can I find out who this is for our case? Or would it even be possible to become a curator for the country Luxembourg? I would be very interested in improving certain things concerning our country.
