There are so many pictures of parrots on these fruits that the iNaturalist AI learned to recognize parrots through the fruits, even though the parrot does not exist.

Yep, when I was uploading pictures of spring beauties(flower) it was suggesting spring beauty miner(bee), itâs all just association.
The AI is trained on observations, and humans tend to pay more attention to animals than to plants, so the AI often looks for animals instead of plants, and makes interpretations based on that.
Itâs not really the fault of the AI, itâs the âfaultâ of the human bias the AI is trained on.
At least itâs not confident - thatâs a good sign, itâs probbaly working as intended.
I donât know itâs still true, and the CV used to label a pile of boulders as âElephant Seal.â There certainly is a resemblance.
