Ah yes, my bad, I should have mentioned that. I guess I see the insertion of a homonymous genus between the misplaced species and the correct family as being not much different from my second scenario above, except for the creation of an extra name of “convenience” that has no foundation in taxonomy (unlike Aus bus and its Family). For me it would need to meet the same burden of a compelling reason not to just wait for the taxonomy to catch up. And since iNaturalist already allows any rank to be grafted to any other rank (scarily), I’m not sure that the homonymous genus would really be serving any additional purpose?
(And there is also the issue of not adding another to the list of homonyms that already create confusion in iNaturalist, as other threads have discussed.)
