Hello, new to the forum. Love bird watching in the area of the USA i live in but really irritated by squirrels. Buying hot seeds is really expensive due to the weight for delivery so gave up on that! I like hot oils and have tried several on Amazon but the squirrels eventually power through the pepper/spice taste. Anyone else tried Sandy’s Hot Oil? I went with it because it has Carolina Reaper and so far so good. Birds love it but its too hot for squirrels. I am open to other techniques but squirrel proof feeders havent delivered for me

I work at a Children’s Museum where we have a bird watching area for the kids and we certainly have trouble with squirrels. We go through a lot of bird seed, and I’ve wondered about treating it with some spicy oil. Would it work (from a cost saving perspective) to buy a few very hot peppers, grind them up with a bottle of oil and spray this on the seed? What procedure do you use?
