Yes, the dictionaries now make a distinction between the two, but that seems to be a new distinction. Back in my day (the Stone Age) it was just Birdwatching.
I donât call myself a Birder or Birdwatcher, Iâm just someone who loves birds.
eBird has the benefit of not requiring a voucher picture or audio so you can record every bird that you can hear and see well enough to identify. iNaturalist tends to overrepresent the large, slow, and easy to photograph species and wayyyyyy undercount skulky species that donât pose for photographs.
