Since I don’t have many affordable field guides for indian birds, I mainly use merlin and ebird, experience, Inat, and my good ol’ friend google.

I use eBird, iNat, and waaaaay too many field guides to study and learn. My favorite field guide is probably my 2nd edition Sibley guide.
Birds of the World from Cornell Labs is an AMAZING resource. I use it all the time. I get it for free as an eBird reviewer but it would be worth the fee if I didn’t.

My birdwatching goal for 2025 is to see, or at-least hear a Chuck’s Widow Will. They migrate here for breeding in April and leave July. It’s a rare species but one I hope to see.
I would like to keep both as well, because also, the poll is only once a week.
Yes, apologies, I don’t really know much about New Guinea birds. But still mostly here in Australia. I would like to get as many of them as pets as possible, but some are illegal to own, as they are more rare. I already have one.

I’m asking because I’m new to bird photography. I’m free all day today but the weather is -5 degrees and cloudy. Do you think it’s worth a try?
There is a huge city park with an artificial lake. I think some of the birds of nearby areas can go there to get warm.

I got bird of the day today!
I saw Mallard, American Black Duck, Hooded Merganser, Common Merganser, Red-breasted Merganser, Domestic Mallard, and two hybrids - American Black Duck x Mallard and Mallard x Muscovy Duck.
Well it’s still Saturday, so does it count? Still very cool, though!
It doesn’t count for the bird of the week because ducks haven’t won yet (probably will, though!), but I saw a few different kinds today. I also added a neat seagull hybird… umm, hybrid to my life list.
