Everyone says that yellow breasted chats are just elusive, but I’ve never seen one. Or heard one. Do they even exist?? Maybe they’re just catbirds in disguise

On global big day last month, I went to the chagrin river park (NE Ohio near Lake Erie) and was lucky enough to find one! I guess you have to be in the right place at the right time. And yet the yellow-bellied sapsucker still eludes me…

This sounds like about what you’d expect from an elusive bird.

Do you have eBird?
If you do, you can sign up to get emails when a rare bird or target bird is seen in your city/region/county. You can also explore and see what birds are around, as most birders are on eBird.

This is why young raptors have trouble making it, they are not smart when it comes to finding a perch.

I think it was trying to find some place to digest a meal.

Will probably get some version of this printed once I decide on a crop size and orientation for it.

I love getting ‘sets’. I was recently in the Northern Territory, Australia and came so close to completing the set of Australian Fantails. I have now seen 5 of the 6 Australian species
Willie Wagtail Ripidura leucophrys
Grey Fantail R. albiscapa
Northern Fantail R. rufiventris
Australian Rufous Fantail R. rufifrons
Arafura Fantail R. dryas
But I dipped on Mangrove Fantail R. phasiana

Oh well, I guess that’s a good reason to go to Darwin again

I’ve got a lot of these, including the indian roller. I’ve always wanted to see one, and finally did on a road trip. Followed by.. 50 more. No joke, we counted 50 different rollers on the trip.

So, cuckoos or starlings?
Any of them works for me :)

Really all of the americas have gnatcatchers (a lot of the Central American and northern South American countries have them as well)

Starlings win! Sorry for being late to let people know. Have fun finding starlings. Everyone gets an extra day too!
