This upcoming November I have to be in northern suburbs of Chicago. I am very much interested in plants holding out in the falling temperatures. Where would be a cornucopia of observations? I am not familiar with the latitude at that time of year.
Thanks.
Things will definitely be mostly browned up especially if it’s later in November, but you can still get your forensic dormant botany on – you should check out Illinois Beach State Park for sure.
I checked out the local observations for late Novembers past, and there were some interesting flora. Maybe it was a warm spell. What about the park behind the Chicago Botanical gardens, Glencoe, if I remember right. When I was there in summer time I was impressed by the diversity of plants. This does not show up in observations on iNat.
