Who can help create “complexes?” There are a couple of cases with the aquatic plant community where we can narrow observations down to two or three species, but need information beyond the typical images to distinguish between the two. Thanks
Please go to the genus which you think there should be a complex, and on the right side of the page there’s a button labeled curation. From there, you can “flag” the genus and explain why a complex should be created and what members it should contain.
However, the protocol doesn’t allow the creation of complexes for any similar looking species, the complex must be recognized in the scientific literature somehow so if you have a reference for a complex, group, or clade containing your proposed members it should be easy to get a complex made. I….really wish that the protocol would lighten up a bit for species concepts, especially in regards to fungi.
Section can kind of work, sometimes, if they exist and the literature is up to date enough that things have been published properly.
But holy moly would being able to use ‘complex’ for more really cryptic fungi groups would SERIOUSLY make a lot of people’s lives easier.
